Visual Fusion Contribute has launched and is now available for free download at the iPhone App Store. Of course you need a Visual Fusion instance running in SharePoint to see your photos and comments geo-located on a Virtual Earth map, but we can give you access to a demo account if you contact us.
We are very excited about what this product can do for the enterprise and how it’s going to empower the folks in the office to see what the folks in the field are seeing in near real time. Integrating this valuable feet-on-the-street intelligence with other enterprise and cloud-based data is an awesome capability!
Another interesting use case is for a businessperson to get into the habit of taking photos of contacts at various meetings and conferences around the country and submitting them to a SharePoint library. Then, whenever a new business trip arises, they can see on a map which contacts are in that area… and even cooler is the ability to see the photos right there to help jog their memory of who these people are and determine whether or not they want to arrange a meeting while they are in town. Two big wins: easier to see proximity because of the map and easier to remember the contact because of the photo.
There are going to be dozens of unique use cases for this product and I can’t wait to hear how our partners and customers integrate this into their workflows and bring value to their organizations. If you have any ideas for killer use cases, please add them in the comments below!
